Hi, I’m Julia Evangeli — painter and artist coach.
From my studio in the village of Benidoleig on the Costa Blanca, I run relaxed painting sessions, workshops and creative gatherings where artists of all levels can explore their creativity and develop their own unique style.
My teaching combines solid artistic foundations with a more expressive approach to painting, helping artists build confidence, overcome creative blocks and rediscover the joy of making art.

Hidden away in the quiet valley village of Benidoleig, Alicante, my studio offers a gentle pause from the everyday — a place to reconnect, express, and create. It’s a warm, welcoming space filled with colour, music, and the occasional cat curled up beside your easel.
Styles, Subjects and mediums
With years of experience and training, I work with a variety of subjects and mediums, including:
Portraits, landscapes, abstracts, and figurative work.
In my classes, we primarily use oils, acrylics, mixed media, inks, and watercolours.
I teach the process of painting—YOUR process of painting. Once you understand this concept, you can apply it to any medium or subject matter.

The philosophy behind my work integrates both expression and structure. It’s about learning the skills and tools you need to create while also overcoming the emotional blocks that hinder your creativity.
And above all, it’s based around PLEASURE. Painting should be a joy.

I’ve always believed that great painting comes from the balance between the head and the heart.
It’s not all wild mark-making, and it’s not just technical drills either.
One without the other leaves something missing.
I teach both — structure that supports your expression, and expression that gives life to your structure.
It’s in the middle, where these two meet, that your true voice starts to emerge.
Some artists need strong foundations. Others need help letting go. Many need both. Together, we create a process that works for you — so you can develop your skills, trust your instincts, and paint in a way that feels completely your own.

About Me
I’m Julia Evangeli — a British-born painter of Greek Cypriot heritage, based in the quiet village of Benidoleig, Spain.
First and foremost, I’m a painter.
My practice is rooted in bold, expressive mark-making and soulful, intuitive painting. I create original works, take on bespoke commissions, and sell my art to collectors across the world.
I studied Fine Art at Camberwell and Brighton, and after relocating to Spain over 18 years ago, I founded a creative studio where I could both paint and teach. Since then, I’ve worked with hundreds of students through workshops, retreats, and mentoring — offering guidance that blends technique with creative freedom.
Alongside my art practice, I’m also a certified coach, helping artists and aspiring creatives reconnect with their confidence, authenticity, and inner voice. My approach is intuitive and down-to-earth, with a strong focus on personal expression over perfection.
Over the past 16 years, my studio has also become a space for teaching and mentoring. Alongside my painting practice, I offer classes, workshops, and one-to-one sessions — helping others explore their own creative voice in an open, expressive way.
As a certified coach, I combine artistic development with personal growth, supporting students of all levels to build confidence, reconnect with their creativity, and paint with freedom and authenticity.
My work is inspired by a rich family lineage of artistry, music, and mysticism — and everything I offer is grounded in one guiding principle: expression.
